Least favorite of the trilogy. - Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom Reviews

Temple of Doom is my least favorite of the three. I didn't especially like the acting done by Kate Capshaw and it was almost a sci-fi movie. Harrison Ford was great but I liked the other two much better.

Cowabunga man! - Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom Reviews

Will the Real Slim Shady please stand up? Please Stand Up? Will the Real Slim Shady please stand up? Please stand up? Cowabunga dude! The best movie before Black Hawk Down. A must see!!!!!!

This movie stinks!! the story blows!! - Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom Reviews

This movie starts out stupid, and just gets worse. I only continued watching it because I thought it had to get better, but it didn't. From the drawn out beginning with a dancing chorus line, to the horrible fight scenes, this movie bites. Near the end, he punches out three dudes on the altar of the temple during prime doom time and then suddenly the hordes of bad guys that were there go away. Then they stop for kisses and hugs, and walk casually half-way out of the temple, but then all the bad guys are back, except they're idiots. Then comes the roller coaster / mine cart scene which is kinda cool (girlfriend says "mildly entertaining"), but nowhere near redeems itself, because the stupidity is ongoing even through this. Then the rushing water which rushes past him when he steps into a side tunnel- uh, yeah! THE MAIN PROBLEM IS THE STORY LINE BLOWS. If it had a good story line, you could forgive the purposeful corniness. But coupled with the fact that the action itself was worse than predictable-- he telegraphs his every move (sometimes 2 or three times), and the bad guys don't seem to catch on. You really have to struggle not to turn this movie off out of embarassment for the director (or yourself for continuing to watch). The kid and the girl scream loudly like idiots at all the wrong times. Next, the movie just doesn't progress-- in the previous movies Indie went from this maze to that trap to here and there-- most of this movie is stuck inside the ridiculous temple of dumb. Prior to that they go to a dinner at an indian palace where your suposed to believe that average indians are eating first slithering eel like things released from inside a dead python, then big cooked beatles, then eyeball soup, then frozen monkey brains, all as a backdrop to a lame conversation about the temple of doom. What was the point. It didn't make you feel like you were actually in an indian temple getting ready for adventure-- my god, we're stuck inside Indiana meets barfo-o-rama and the temple of dorks. Oh yeah, since when do insects and snakes squeek when you kill them? What was cool about the previous movies was the intrigue and sense of adventure based on semi-historical facts-- it just might be believable. This was just dumb.

Stinker - Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom Reviews

I was shocked on seeing the insensitivity and crudity with which indians are depicted in this movie. Spielberg better keep his mouth shut on the demonizing of jews in "The Passion of the Christ". One of the most disgusting and racially biased movies ever made.

Not what i expected - Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom Reviews

I am an avid fan of the 'Indiana Jones' series, and of all the films and such, I found this one to be not what I expected of the series' caliber. I thought that Harrison Ford was wholy robbed of his usual "good performance" by shoddy writing and even worse directing. The story was hack and the art direction was wholly unsatisfying, for an 'Indiana Jones' film. I would have expected much higher quality from Lucas and Speilberg. Bad choice, guys!

Damn this is a dissapointing movie - Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom Reviews

Ok i cant bealive that this sorry excuse for a movie was ever made... where the hell did the asian kid come form and where is he in the third one.. i think they did a bad choice in casting people. the damn asian kid is an annoying idiot and the stupid chick is even worse... that damn movie sucked!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Another one line review. - Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom Reviews

WOW, Han Solo wasn't frozen all the time from Empire to Jedi, he came to India, ate a snake cooked with its babies inside, ate monkey's brains, ate some big-ass cockroaches, then stepped on bugs of all sorts, then got on a mining roller coaster ride, then fought a guy who LITTERALLY RIPS PEOPLE'S HEARTS OUT, WITH ONLY HIS TRUSTY BULLWHIP AND HIS WITS to aid him, plus he gets giggly with a blonde bombshell while a small Chinese boy watches, like I started this One Line review: WOW!!!

Outstanding! - Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom Reviews

In 1984 I never would have guessed that any studio would have the awesome sound effects and visual effects the Paramount and Lucasfilm had! Totally awesome, a very memorable creation that will stay popular year after year! Everyone and every age will love this and the other Indiana Jones films.

The temple of dumb....uhh doom - Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom Reviews

Alright, this is not the best Indiana Jones, in fact its the worst, but its not a bad film at all. Most ppl say Short Round is annoying I look at them and laugh and say nope THE FRICKIN' WOMAN is annoying. If she wasn't in this film, itd be great. The story is a flawed, I mean he's not really in search of any artifiacts, if you count those stones that light up, then yeah. But that wasn't his main concern. So, take my word on this, watch the other two. :)

Indiana jones 2 - Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom Reviews

Second of three movies. Very good with lots of action. It even has some good laughs and it will keep you entertained. This is one of the best action adventure movies of all-time.

Hollywood movie magic at its very best. - Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom Reviews

My opinion of Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade could be deemed slightly biased. It is the first film I ever saw in theaters and it's also the first movie I purchased on video. I even own the same, worn-down, beat-up copy (and look upon it even more fondly than the widescreen edition, for sentimental reasons, of course) (but nothing beats the pristine quality DVD). I think it's fair to say it's this movie that cemented my love of cinema, the high regard I hold for great escapism, which is sorely lacking from today's cinema; movies that should be fun now drag or bludgeon themselves with relentlessly awful scripts or MTV-style direction that turns relatively simple scenes into chaotic blurs. The Last Crusade may only be thirteen years old, but I think I can safely say they don't make them like they used to. The film stars, of course, Harrison Ford as Indy Jones, the archaeologist/adventurer who's on yet another quest, this time to find his father, who'd been searching for the Holy Grail. Said Dad is played by none other than Sean Connery, whose highly charismatic performance is quick to place this film, acting-wise, above the others in the trilogy. The rest of the film focuses on this ongoing journey between father and son (eventually joined along by Sallah and Marcus Brody), complete with amazing action and stunt sequences, clever humor, and nasty (but fun) surprises. The script, by Jeffrey Boam, takes a few cues from Raiders of the Lost Ark, but actually improves upon that story by paying more attention to characterization. The delightful opening scene (all three movies really open with a bang, don't they?); which details how young Indy got his scar, whip, hat, and fear of snakes; makes for a better prequel than Temple of Doom (and any of The Adventure of Young Indiana Jones, for that matter). The story is engrossing because there's a lot of fun clues offered towards the location of the Grail and, thus, there's a lot of engaging little discoveries (love the "X marks the spot" scene). I'm quite certain, like with Raiders of the Lost Ark, the plot has a few holes, but they're fairly hard to notice, and I've seen this movie quite a few times, but maybe it's just my enjoyment of the film clouding that up. Either way, it speaks volumes in favor of Spielberg's direction and the performances. Given that action and adventure is the series' selling point, you can expect the thrills and wondrous delight of discovery delivered in spades. The action scenes are terrific (and matched well with John Williams' rousing, memorable score), the best being an excellent ten-minute setpiece on board (and in) a Nazi tank in a sensational chase sequence across the desert. I also loved the motorcycle chase and the Zeppelin setpiece, where the heroes go about dispatching of two enemy fighters in unexpected, but quite hilarious, fashion. The climax, complete with frightening booby traps, is a suspenseful venture into the unknown, which is the pinnacle adventure movies aspire to. The Last Crusade is far more humor-oriented than its predecessors, but part of the movie's effectiveness is that it's able to deliver belly laughs without defusing the tension during the action sequences. Some of the jokes are just brilliant, including one with Indy armed with a Luger in confrontation with a line of Nazis in front of him that's even funnier than the swordsman scene in Raiders (well, to me, at least). The supporting cast is all-around superb; John Rhys-Davies is back as Sallah, wonderful as ever and displaying a bit more enthusiasm searching for the Grail than he did digging up the Ark of the Covenant. The late Denholm Elliot also returns as Marcus Brody, the most loveable goof of a museum curator. Alison Doody is interesting as Elsa, the blonde bombshell whom Indy falls for; a twist involving her character and her actions towards the climax make her not as one-dimensional as she may initially appear. Julian Glover is the best of the main Indy villains, he's far more menacing than Paul Freeman's Belloq and less over-the-top but equally enjoyable as Amrish Pruri's Mola Ram. I also enjoyed Michael Byrne's performance as the Jones hating Colonel Vogel, who relishes in torturing Indy and his father. When it comes to pure delightfully nasty villainy, Byrne is even more fun to watch than Glover. Harrison Ford once again slides effortlessly into the role of Jones, but there's a catch. With the addition of Connery as his father, it reveals a personal side to Indy we haven't seen before. It's his rapport with Connery that strikes that spark that separates this from 99% of the genre. They craft an uncannily touching, funny, and genuine bond unlike any duo I've seen. You could call it a buddy picture, but one with genuine heart and emotion, something filmmakers Michael Bay or Jerry Bruckheimer could learn a thing or two about. The Last Crusade is pure Hollywood movie magic at its best and brightest.

A little different, but just as good - Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom Reviews

A lot of people don't like this Indy film because it was a little different, but don't think of them as a trilogy, but as 3 different episodes following the same character and you'll find it's just as great. The best score was in this one too.

People, this sucks! - Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom Reviews

Holy crap, 6 people have reviewed this(So far) and the lowest grade is an A-!!?? The first thing that really rubbed me the wrong way was that this tries to gross you out, and then tries to out do that gross out with something grosser, then something grosser, and so on. The room of bugs? No, thats not trying to top the snake pit from Raiders. Chilled monkey brains? Live snakes? Heart riping out? What the hell? And a fight with a huge guy on a convayor belt with a crushing thing at the end, that definetly isnt going trying to top the fight aroud the plain with the Nazi in Raiders. 2nd, the kid in this is annoying. This is a prequel, and he isnt in Raiders. Did he and Indy break up between this and that? Who cares? 3rd, the chick is worse than the kid. Some of the biggest flaws in James Bond movies are when there is a week female lead, like A View to a kill. 4th, annoying cameos and in-jokes. The OBI-WAN club? Dan Aykroyd? Come on, crap like that detracts from the expirience. 5th, prdictability, lack of suspense. This is two years before Raiders, so we know Indy will live(But even if it wasn't a prequel, we know he would live anyway,) but setting it it two years before is pointless. Plus, kids and girls never die, even if you want them to. Did you think for a second that Indy would stay a bad guy? 6th, bad plot. A temple of doom? What the hell is that? And why did we have to stay in this temple of doom for the whole movie? 7th, weak vilain. A guy who rips peoples hearts out. Something that came out of a swamp would have more charisma than this witch docter. Avoid at all costs. *

My least favorite indiana jnes movie - Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom Reviews

This is the worst of the indiana jones movies. It also have some parts that would go against alot of peoples morales.

Not as good as raiders of the lost ark - Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom Reviews

the story was interesting to where they came as if prophesized but this time no dealing with the nazis or the japanese imperial army. still within the area of his expertise the woman and child added to his group was ok but usually indy from my understanding always operated alone. so of course it never hurts to have friends around that could help.

Indiana jones is back in this great sequel... - Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom Reviews

Those who give this film a low score are out of their mind, sure, this film isn't as good as Raiders, but it's still worth checking out. One of those films you could watch over and over again, and still love it!

It was a dark time for our heroes - Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom Reviews

I see this as The Empire Srikes Back of the Indiana Jones series, although it's not the greatest,it still has it's moments. It is a darker story and leaves you on the edge of your seat! What a ride! =)

Harrison ford kicks ass in his second mission - Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom Reviews

Indiana Jones (Harrison Ford) returns in this action packed adventure to battle an evil cult and rescue a village of children that are being held captive in Asia. Joining Indy in his adventure is a gold-digging woman and a precocious kid that got a piece of the action. The trio cross paths with alligators, swordsmen, snakes and other experiences while in the temple. This movie does not miss a beat and I wouldn't mind owning this on DVD. Indiana Jones kicks ass and will return in "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (1989)".

The temple of doom - Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom Reviews

Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom is the sequal to one of the best action films ever! It is a continuation of the adventures of Dr. Jones played very well by Harrison Ford. The visuals were fanstastic! The girl was better in the first one. I like the first one better because I think it has a little better story. I still like them both very much! This time Jones finds himself looking for a secert rock for a village in India. If you haven't seen this film, I would go rent it now. It doesn't matter what order you watch them in!

Indiana jones liberator - Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom Reviews

Dr.Indiana Jones adventure is in India.Wilhelmina'Willie'Scott(Kate Capeshaw)and Short Round(Ke Huy Quan)help Dr.Jones fight an evil cult call Thuggee. The chief priest of Thuggee is Mola Ram(Amrish Puri). The cult forces children to work in a mine. They also are into human sacrifice for their deity. The director Steven Spieberg has a lot of action and suspense in this film. The visuals are great. It is a nice film to watch.

Indiana jones and the temple of doom - Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom Reviews

I don?fknow why this film got only low reputation,I thought this was the best in series. Especially, storyline was much polished as adventure movies. It gave me dream and courage. Every aspects of this film was perfect. It was impossible works for me.I?fve watched this film over and over again ever.Outstanding works!

1 out of 3 - Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom Reviews

Story: As good a story as the first. Acting: Harrison Ford and Kate Capshaw Direction: Spielberg does it again. Visuals: Better than the first. Comedy: Funnier than the first. Stunts: Almost as good as the first. Overall: The third best movie in the trilogy :)

Cool classic - Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom Reviews

This was a pretty cool movie,It wasn't as good as the first one but it still a good classic. If you liked the first movie, than you'd probably like this one. This isn't the first time I've seen this movie, I just havn't wrote a review on it.It was about two and a half years ago since I saw it.It's a good movie.

Rent it, or i'll rip out your heart!!!!!!! - Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom Reviews

If you are in the mood for an action-adventure don't rent something stupid like Half Past Dead or The Core rent a classic action-adventure like this or the other two Indianna Jones movies! This movie is the creepiest out of the three, but if I had to chose a least favourite this would be it, but it was still very very very very very good.

The temple of good - Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom Reviews

The temple of Doom is a good sequal to 1981's Raiders of the lost ark. Harrison Ford is funny as well Good. Alot of this movie is gross like when they eat monkey brain's for desert But it's also funny like when he gets in the plane of the guy he's chasing but it has close calls like when Indiana Jones gets his hat at the last second. But Overall this movie is good.

One of my all time favs! - Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom Reviews

Another great part of one of my favorite trilogies. Very dark tones but still a great adventure. Ford is again great. Great story, action, direction. Just loved it!!

No doubt the worst of the series - Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom Reviews

The second installment seemed rushed and built to be a blockbuster. It had no real point and it drifted away from many of the themes that kept viewers hooked to Raiders. Kate Crapshaw's acting was laughable and it dragged the film under. The stupid pokes and disgusting bugs were an attempt to show a reaccuring theme but failed. It was okay, but below Lucas and Speilberg's standards. B+

Indy returns - Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom Reviews

A couple of my favorite Indy side kicks are in Shorty and Willie. It's a little more dark than the rest, but still has plenty of laughs and plenty of adventure.

This is sequel hell! - Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom Reviews

Raiders of the Lost Ark was a very good movie. This is not that film. This is the worst kind of sequel. Cute and precocious kid, screaming weak woman sidekick, and an equally weak story. When you get two bad sequel sidekicks in one movie, you know you have a bad film. Just skip this one after seeing Raiders.

Best in the series - Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom Reviews

I was left dissapointed with Raiders of the Lost Ark but when I saw this movie, my love for the series was restored because of its over the top action and great characters Indiana meets along the way. I think Shortround was the coolest character ever and he had the best lines in show business. -Maxretarted ****.com

Much worse than the original - Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom Reviews

The Temple oof Doom is not just less brainy than Raiders of the Lost Ark, but its much less fun, and its way to gory, it was the reason for the PG-13 rating, although it was established after this film was released. An unfortunit mess.

Eep! - Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom Reviews

This is the worst of the Indiana Jones trilogy. It's still watchable but it just gets annoying. I really felt like killing the kid and the woman, they were so annoying. The ending is excellent, from when they have to escape the mine until the credits. It's still good, I mean hey, it's Indiana Jones, but it's just not as good as the others.

The temple of doom...... - Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom Reviews

The Temple of Doom was an ok story but I enjoyed it anyway. Raiders of the Lost Ark was slightly better than this one but overall it was not too bad.

Best indie film - Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom Reviews

What is the matter with all those critics? This is by far the best Indie film hands down. It was adventure to the tee. It was better than Raiders of the lost ark. Rent this movie. You will like it.

This is an all-time classic - Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom Reviews

If you don't like this movie there is something wrong with you. Harrison Ford is amazing as Indiana Jones. This is probably one of the top 20 movies ever made. This is a 10 for sure.

Not as good as the first one, but still good - Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom Reviews

Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom would have been an excellent movie, if not for Willie. Who is Willie? You know, that stupid female character who is constantly whining, screaming, and complaining. Now you know who I am talking about, right? Good. Willie is really my only problem with this movie. Harrison Ford excellently plays the part of Indiana Jones, with lines that are both witty and memorable. The Temple of Doom is a strange, but perfect, mix of things. There are scenes that have the feel of a classic humorous Indiana Jones adventure. Other scenes are violently dark and evil. The way that everything is put together is great. The special effects are, of course, A-class. For a movie that was made 20+ years ago, the visuals are still convincing. If action/adventure fans can ignore the whining Willie, they will be treated to one of the most exciting motion pictures of their life.

Indiana jones and the temple of doom - Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom Reviews

Indy is back!!!! This time he is in India. He uncovers a sinister scheme that has enslaved a remote village's children in a fortress-like mine. Indy must save all the village's children and avoid becoming a slave himself to the evil Thuggee Clut. I thought this one had a weak story line, I'd rather have go on an adventure to find an artifact and go through bad guys. But, I grew into the story as I watched the movie. I really didn't like Short Round that Chinese kid, very annoying!!! I also thought the girl Willie Scott wasn't a strong character. It still is a classic and a really good sequel, but not as good as the original. Again Lucas & Spielburge make a great team again. But, not a sequel that is better than the original... out of 5 it's a 4.

Temple of doom is the worst of the indiana jones - Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom Reviews

Out of the 3 Indiana Jones movies this is the worst one. I literally have to force myself to watch it just to see the ending. It was outright boring. The little Asian kid was annoying was a bit annoying. This sidekick wasn't really suited to this movie. Raiders Of The Lost Ark & Last Crusade, the 2 other parts of the Indiana Jones trilogy were far better. I recommend Last Crusades, it has lots of funny moments in it and the storyline overall is much better. This movie had nothing going for it. The only decent parts in this movie was the mine train action sequence and the bridge sequence over a cliff. The Indians were hard to understand, you need subtitles to follow the dialogue. You movie reviewers on here are too generous with your ratings. You got to be more critical and give fair ratings. This movie overall was very boring. I give it a 2.5 / 10

Still fun under mediocre observations. - Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom Reviews

This prequel is less remembered out of the three. Indiana Jones and The Temple of Doom is best known as the most underrated adventure ploy of the decade. I just can't figure out the real reason why it's such a disappointment. The film does contain as much legit thrills and fun as the original. The only thing missing is the Nazis, but what can you expect? The party never really manifested itself unto the world in the late 30's for which this film is taking place. I'm no history buff. The adventures continues or is about to continue as Indiana Jones (Harrison Ford) meets with the Hong Kong mafia at a crowded club to retrieve a stolen artifact. Unfortuantely like all mafias, they can't be trusted and poisons Dr. Jones. As stupid as the mafia can be, they happen to have the antitode for the poison. Dr. Jones and a club singer (Kate Capshaw) realizes they have the antitode, he stumbles around the club, fighting off his persuers, and eventually stealing the antitode and the artifact. While cured, he's still being persued and a 8-year-old cabbie (He Kuy Quan) comes to the rescue. The club brawl is not as genius as the cavern beginning in Raiders of the Lost Ark but it still provides the fun. Not to mention the rolling giant disk. The plot of the movie only revolves around the sadisitic cult performing wierd heart-ripping rituals within the caverns and jungles of India. Indy, the 8-year-old cabbie, and the club singer helps a village retrieve an artifact that seems offer the very foundation and soul of their culture. The movie also is a bit thought-provoking in which a scene does linger on the message of how horrible child-labor is. Despite some pitfalls I noticed, The Temple of Doom is still a satisfying journey for fans. Those looking for the same thrills still have hope for this prequel.

Not the best - Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom Reviews

The action and acting was just fine no doubt. But some of the scenes could've been removed from this film. I felt out of the 3 this was one that maybe should not have been made. It started out just fine but started losing me towards the middle. Seeing there were no scenes of him teaching or his buddies it didn't have the familiar feeling to it. I wouldn't recommend this film for fans of Ford or Indiana Jones.

It's a tie between this one and "the last crusade" - Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom Reviews

I love this one! I love the storyline of the Thuggee cult. Out of all the ladies in Indy's life, Willie was the, um, "screamiest". That woman could hit the high notes! I liked her the best, though. Short Round was another good edition to the movie. The dinner (of bugs, "snake surprise", eyeball soup, and "chilled monkey brains"!) was my favorite scene. My favorite line: [Willie] "I hate the water, and I hate being wet, and I hate YOU!!" [Indy] "Good, GOOD!!"

Great movie!!! - Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom Reviews

I loved Raiders of the Lost Ark and The Last Crusade. But The Temple of Doom has always stood out as being the darkest chapter in the Indiana Jones triligy, and (for me) had the most memorable scenes: airplane crash/rafting, the spike room, the mine chase, the infamous bridge showdown. This movie is just packed with action and adventure. If you havent seen it, your missing out!

Yay this rocks! - Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom Reviews

Okay, one of my best friends LOVES Indiana Jones and I hadn't seen them and i'm 13! I was feeling kind of deprived. I wasn't expecting it to be that good but when i watched it i was shocked! It was REALLY good! Everything was great I was just soooooo impressed! The Temple of Doom is the only one of seen so far but i'm looking forward to seeing Raiders of the Lost Ark and the Last Crusade.

Not as good as the first but memorable... - Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom Reviews

Indiana Jones and The Temple of Doom is a really good film if you like the more horror type of genre. It is more on the suspensful, freaky, vodoo type of adventure going into Indian mythology but staying true to the adventure genre. I myself am not a fan of the horror genre, few horror films I like and this is one of them. This is the thrilling second chapter in the trilogy that is more on the hoky-poky side than other two. The Indiana Jones Trilogy is my second favorite trilogy of all time (first being Lord of the Rings) yet I hate to say that this second movie is the weakest of the three. It is still a good movie though. Like I had stated before buy the trilogy on DVD.

Just too wierd - Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom Reviews

Temple of Doom is a good and bad movie. All of the marks of the first film are there: great acting, directing, story. But pulling people's hearts out is just too wierd for me. Leave this one on the shelf.

It should be indiana jones 2 and the worst sequel - Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom Reviews

I love the Indiana Jones series but this one isn't as good as the others. Now, it isn't horrible. I actually loved the plot and the story. I just didn't like the new characters that were added. This movie didn't have the best acting. The overall grade for this movie is mediocre. It is mediocre. I am a very tough critic and the smallest mistake made in a movie I'll put into thought. Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom is still a good movie. If you had spare time I'd watch this movie.

The worst in the series. - Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom Reviews

If you like the first one, you will like this one, but there are flaws. The action and adventure is there, but the acting lacks. What the hell is with the screaming chick??...It get's annoying as hell. The story also get's a bit confussing, but none the less it's indy and indy rocks.

Great from start to finish - Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom Reviews

Indiana Jones And The Temple Of Doom is the second Indiana Jones film, and it is as great as Raiders. I don't get why some people don't like this movie, I seriously can't see why. The movie has so many memorable moments(The Dinner Scene), exciting thrills, and amazing stunts. The story is different from Raiders, Indy doesn't have support from the government or Barnett College, he's doing all this on his own. But again, great story, perfect actors(Short Round is a great and funny character), excellent direction, and amazing special effects made this great movie. You will really like Indiana Jones And The Temple Of Doom.

Wild roller coaster & non-stop action!! - Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom Reviews

This movie no doubt has the best beginning in movie history..... It starts off with a Bang and it just snowballs from their!!! Excellent Directing and top knotch performances from Harrison Ford and Kate Capshaw!!! In this movie Indiana Jones finds himself on a new adventure, trekking across Asia with a gold-digging woman(Kate Capshaw) and a young child to rescue a village's missing children and find a magic stone. But, along the way he must contend with an evil cult. Steven Spielbergs other worldly brilliance is shown in this unquestionably magnificent Directing job, that it feels like your basicly in the movie yourself!!! Major props to mister Steven Spielberg for stealing my breath once again!!! = )

Does not need my recommendation but receives it. - Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom Reviews

At the beginning of 2005, I have never seen any of the Indiana Jones trilogy. Yes, I have been living under a rock, however, I decided I was going to watch them all, and soon. I watched Raiders a few weeks ago, and now, I have finished viewing Temple Of Doom as well. I have to say that I enjoyed Temple Of Doom a tad more than Raiders Of The Lost Ark. I can not compare Last Crusade yet, but will shortly. There are many reasons I like this movie better than the first. This seemed like more of a cohesive story to me. By that, I mean Indiana does not have to cross into all kinds of different countries for all kinds of different adventures, seemingly to just fit as much in the movie as possible. Other than the opening, which is meant to introduce Willie Scott (Kate Capshaw) and Shorty (Jonathan Ke Quan) and bring them together with Indiana Jones (Harrison Ford). Once they are in India, they stay in India. There was plenty of trouble in the one country for them to get into. The main plot is that once Indiana and friends are stranded after a plane wreck in India, they need to get some special stones for the village. Once they find the Temple Of Doom, that is where the story really takes off and gets fun. They discover that the children of the village are slaves to the Indian Chiefs and warriors and make it a point to save them as well. Mola Ram (Amrish Puri) was a great intimidating character. This was by far his most prominent role in the U.S. For the most part, the special effects in this movie were great, with a few minor discrepancies (not bad at all for 1984). In fact, the only reason I can really see for making the 4th installment of Indiana Jones, is to use todays technology on this great series. It is bound to have some awesome looking displays. The only thing that truly annoyed me in this film was the constant screaming by Kate Capshaw's character Willie. Man, did that ever get tiresome. Overall, a great movie which does not need my recommendation but receives it highly.

A timeless gem - Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom Reviews

The fight sequences are laughable but the movie is so good it does not matter. Ford is corny at times but nonetheless a fun and carismatic heroin. you can't help but care about him from the opening scene. I'll add this DVD to Gladiator, Brave Heart, Lord of the rings and Die Hard as one of my favorites.

The man in the hat is back... - Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom Reviews

Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom has caught a LOT of flack over the years since its first release. It's hard to say whether or not the criticism has died down a bit; the movie sure does seem to have its fan base. Admittedly, not all the stated faults are unfair or have no justification; this is indeed the most flawed of the Indiana Jones adventures. But as such, a deeply flawed Jones outing is still likely more fun than the next dozen summer blockbusters you're likely to see all year long. Set in 1935 (meaning this is a prequel to Raiders), Harrison Ford once again stars as our titular hero, this time in a Chinese nightclub, making a trade for a valuable diamond. Things don't go as planned and an all-out brawl ensues, finally resulting in Jones, singer Willie Scott (Kate Capshaw), and kid sidekick Short Round (Ke Huy Quan) on the run from a Chinese gang. They eventually take off on a plane carrying poultry cargo, but the pilots happen to work for the leader of that gang Jones had the run in with. Thus, Jones and his two partners are stuck in India, where they arrive at a devastated village. Investigating further, Jones decides to head to Pankot Palace, which seems to be the source of the problem. There he discovers the renewed Thugee Cult, bent on world domination with the complete collection of the Sankara Stones. Just what these stones will do...the movie doesn't specify. But this all leads to Indiana Jones kicking [butt], and lots of it, too. The somewhat lukewarm response Temple of Doom initially received wasn't surprising. As the sequel to (at the time) the greatest action movie in existence, there's a lot to live up to. I, for one, was not disappointed. The movie promised a breathless thrill ride and it delivered one. And where else are you going to see elaborate booby traps and exotic settings? Temple of Doom's first half is sensationally entertaining, actually about the equal of Raiders of the Lost Ark. The movie's opening action sequence is a knockout, and the scenes afterward find the right touch of creepiness to make for an intriguing story. It only gets better when they reach Pankot Palace, as we witness the classic dinner scene, truly funny romantic interaction between Jones and Willie, and a spike-filled booby trap scene that is alternately suspenseful and hilarious, thanks to Ford's dead-on reaction ("We are going to Die!"). It's the second half that isn't as successful. Once Jones actually encounters the Thuggee Cult, things get rather unpleasant. The sight of children being whipped stops the fun to a dead halt, and there's a fairly graphic depiction of a man whose heart is removed...by hand. These scenes are also set underground, which makes for a very grimy and dark setting, not necessarily the best for an adventure movie. But thankfully, things pick up significantly for the final half-hour, which is arguably the most exciting extended action sequence of the whole trilogy. It all begins with thrilling fistfights and whip-swinging, then turns to a rollercoaster ride on a minecart, then concludes on a shaky bridge overlooking a river full of alligators. The action is wildly thrilling and breathtaking, featuring awesome stunts and brilliant cinematography (particularly during the minecart chase). There's also one shot which features Jones standing poised right before he knocks out a villain (off-screen) that's probably the coolest single scene in the whole series. Interestingly enough, Temple of Doom happens to be the only Jones film that ends on an action sequence; in this case, we get four. How can anyone complain about that, especially considering just how damned entertaining these action scenes are? Yeah, there are a few implausibly silly moments, especially the scene where Willie and Short Round cross an entire bridge without noticing the villain on the other side. But such contrivances are forgivable given just how viscerally exciting the movie is. John Williams' score nicely reuses the Raiders march theme to great effect. The other themes in the score are nicely done, a fitting match to the movie's tone and pacing. The special effects and production values are mostly excellent, only the imposition of the alligators at the end is slightly unconvincing. Otherwise, the movie looks like it could have just been released for the first time yesterday. Where Temple of Doom definitely improves over Raiders is the humor quotient, which is a few notches higher in quantity and quality here. Harrison Ford's performance contributes highly to this factor, just note his reaction to a threat off-screen (you'll know what I'm talking about, it's the scene right after he dispatches of two swordfighters). I think we're all in agreement when we say no one else could have played this role half as well as Ford. It's the part he was born for, and he's absolutely terrific. As for Kate Capshaw, she can be loud and annoying, but I actually prefer her over Karen Allen, if only because she and Ford have better chemistry together. At any rate, The Temple of Doom is still great fun, and certainly superior to any bit of escapist entertainment Hollywood's churned out the past several months. Apparently, Spielberg didn't much like this film, so The Last Crusade was his atonement. He didn't need to apologize, but it's nice to see his apology wound up being the best action film I've ever seen. By the way, has anybody else wondered how Indiana Jones managed to retrieve his brown coat (which was left in the cave) and still get ahead of the children at the end? If you like this movie, I also recommend: Raiders of the Lost Ark, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, The English Patient, Citizen Kane, The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers and The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King.

Probably not as good as the first one - Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom Reviews

This film probably isn't as good as the firtst one, but I still think it's very enjoyable to watch. The action and the quick witted humor is what makes the Indiana Jones films work, and this one has plenty of it. Harrison Ford is great once again as Indy, and Kate Capshaw is great as his damsille in distress. I think the reason why most people don't think it lives up to the first is that its a little more extreme, like the ripping the heart out of a guy's chest. Yes, that was a little extreme, but it didn't ruin the movie for me. This is a great sequel and is worthy of the trilogy.
