Still fun under mediocre observations. - Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom Reviews
This prequel is less remembered out of the three. Indiana Jones and The Temple of Doom is best known as the most underrated adventure ploy of the decade. I just can't figure out the real reason why it's such a disappointment. The film does contain as much legit thrills and fun as the original. The only thing missing is the Nazis, but what can you expect? The party never really manifested itself unto the world in the late 30's for which this film is taking place. I'm no history buff.
The adventures continues or is about to continue as Indiana Jones (Harrison Ford) meets with the Hong Kong mafia at a crowded club to retrieve a stolen artifact. Unfortuantely like all mafias, they can't be trusted and poisons Dr. Jones. As stupid as the mafia can be, they happen to have the antitode for the poison. Dr. Jones and a club singer (Kate Capshaw) realizes they have the antitode, he stumbles around the club, fighting off his persuers, and eventually stealing the antitode and the artifact. While cured, he's still being persued and a 8-year-old cabbie (He Kuy Quan) comes to the rescue. The club brawl is not as genius as the cavern beginning in Raiders of the Lost Ark but it still provides the fun. Not to mention the rolling giant disk.
The plot of the movie only revolves around the sadisitic cult performing wierd heart-ripping rituals within the caverns and jungles of India. Indy, the 8-year-old cabbie, and the club singer helps a village retrieve an artifact that seems offer the very foundation and soul of their culture. The movie also is a bit thought-provoking in which a scene does linger on the message of how horrible child-labor is.
Despite some pitfalls I noticed, The Temple of Doom is still a satisfying journey for fans. Those looking for the same thrills still have hope for this prequel.
